Step 1: Find a Pinterest-Friendly Post Idea

Let’s say we’re running a blog all about female entrepreneurship and we’ve got a category for “boss babe productivity hacks.” I’m looking for a fresh blog post idea and a killer pin to go with it.

I open up PinClicks keyword research tool and type in “female entrepreneurs” to see what Pinterest users are searching for. The suggestion “female entrepreneur business ideas” pops up—seems popular, but pretty competitive.

I scroll down and see “quotes for female entrepreneurs” Now that’s more like it!  It’s a bit more niche, which means less competition. Let’s roll with it!

Step 2: Find High-Performing Pins for Inspiration

Next, I head to the Top Pins tool and type in “quotes for female entrepreneurs.”

After checking out the top 3-4 pins, I notice that most of them are clean, minimalist text on color pin. This is definitely the vibe I’m going for!

I find the top-performing pin and start analyzing the design. The text is easy to read but nothing special, and the image is just a basic plain color.

I know I can do better with a vibrant image and a bold, readable font. Let’s take this to the next level!

Step 3: Nail Down the Best Keywords for Your Pin

Keywords are the secret sauce to Pinterest success!  I grab keywords from two sources:

Keyword Annotations: Pinterest uses its own internal database to assign keywords to pins. I review the top-performing pin’s keywords and add these to my list:

    • Inspo Quotes
    • Motiverende Quotes
    • Study Motivation Quotes
    • Positive Self Affirmations
    • Positive Affirmations Quote

Interests: I use Pinterest’s Interest Explorer tool to dig deeper. I broaden my search to just “inspo quotes” and find even more related keywords like “inspo quotes aesthetic” and “inspiring quotes for female entrepreneurs”

Now, my keyword list is solid and ready to go!

Step 4: Write the Pinterest-Optimized Blog Post

Now that I have my keywords locked and loaded, I use ChatGPT to write the blog post.

I make sure all the keywords are scattered throughout the post—especially near the beginning where they’ll have the most impact. The goal is to make sure Pinterest (and Google) know exactly what my content is all about!

Step 5: Create the Pin and Add Keywords

With my list of keywords in hand, I create a gorgeous pin with a powerful title and description. I use the same keywords in the pin’s alt text and make sure it all ties back to the blog post. Then, I pin it to boards titled “Female Entrepreneurs” and “quotes for female entrepreneurs.”

Short, sweet, and matching Pinterest’s official interests for maximum visibility!

Advanced Tips for Pinterest Success

Text Overlay: Did you know that around 30% of successful pins have text overlay? Make sure your text is clear, legible, and adds value to your image. It’s like giving your pin a voice.

Annotations: Pinterest uses human-curated keywords, known as annotations. Copy these annotations and sprinkle them into your pins to give them a little extra boost in the rankings.

Dimensions: Follow the dimensions of high-ranking pins. A pin width of 564 pixels and height of 846 pixels works wonders. It’s all about fitting in while standing out.

Templates: Once you’ve nailed a successful pin design, create templates to streamline the process. This way, you can whip up stunning pins in no time.

Tools & Resources to use for Pinterest
